+TEACHING RESOURCES

The University of Michigan offers a number of teaching resources for instructors on each campus.

Ann Arbor's Center for Research on Learning & Teaching: CRLT is part of the Provost's Office and works with faculty, graduate student instructors (GSIs) and academic administrators in all nineteen schools and colleges to support and enhance learning and teaching at U-M. Instructors make 5 pledges in this document:

  2. To document meeting times with students so that this record can be reviewed;
  3. To meet students individually only at university venues;
  4. To conduct off-campus meetings only at places where alcohol is not served;
  5. To communicate electronically with students only on university platforms and not on social media, text, and non-university apps.

+PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR LEO LECTURERS

As a result of our recent negotiations, we have made some positive changes to the LEO Professional Development Funds available to lecturers on all three campuses. We hope many of you will apply.

The committees on each campus are now required to review applications no less than five times per year.

Each lecturer can now receive up to $1500, up from $1000. You can apply to the fund more than once until you reach the individual maximum.

When applying, you will increase your chances of securing funds if you show, concretely and specifically, how the proposed activity will benefit your teaching.

+LEO INCLUSIVE TEACHING GRANT

The LEO Inclusive Teaching Grant was an important win for all three campuses in the last contract campaign. Recently in negotiations, we secured additional funding for the next three years! This fund can provide lecturers seeking to better engage in inclusive teaching practices up to $1,200 in support for their proposals, and there is a wide range of how one can use the funds. Applications for grants must be submitted on or before May 15th for Dearborn and Ann Arbor campuses, though applications can be submitted at any time if there are funds available at all campuses.
